Abstract
938,279. Shearing. SCHLOEMANN A.G. Dec. 12, 1960 [Dec. 10, 1959; Jan. 7, 1960], No. 42696/60. Class 83 (4). In a shears with exchangeable blades 12, 17, these may be removed from the shears attached to angle-plates 11, 16. The shears may comprise a stationary upper blade 12 and a lower blade 17 on a beam 2 swung about a pivot 9 by a connecting-rod 3. A crank 5 for the rod 3 is driven through gears 7, 8 by a motor 6, and the work 22 is held down by a plunger 20 biased by a spring 21. The blades are bolted at 14, 14a to the angle plates, and the assembled units are fixed by bolts 13 to the blade supports 10, 15. The bolts 13 pass through large openings 29 in the supports and through straps. 25 which may be moved longitudinally to align openings 27 with nuts 13a on the bolts 13 so that the bolts may be withdrawn and the blade units released without removal of the nuts. Locating pins 26 on the angle-plates engage pockets 15b in the blade supports. Handling of the units is facilitated by lugs 16a. The blade units may be dismounted from a shear with a stationary lower blade support 33 and a movable upper support 32 by means of a table 42 having pins 49 in pockets 50 in the shear-frame and supporting a slide 43. Opposite a counterweight on the slide is a pedestal 44 carrying screw-threaded pins 48 that may be turned to engage pockets 38 in the angle-plate 35 and support the unit during withdrawal of the slide. The blades are re-ground in the angle-plates in which they may then be repositioned by spacers.
