Abstract

1,251,512. Shearing. DAVY & UNITED ENG. CO. Ltd. 31 Jan., 1969 [31 Jan., 1968], No. 4852/68. Heading B3W. Device for use in changing elongated shear blades comprises a support 2 mounted on a wheeled subframe (8), Fig. 1 (not shown), and at least one coupling member 11 including a threaded bar 18 engageable in a hole (19), Fig. 1, in a blade or blade carrier (20), the member 11 being slidable along the support on rollers 12 by means of a winch and pulley arrangement 13- 16 to enable a blade to be removed from or inserted in an axial direction in a shear frame (not shown). Preferably, as shown the support 2 comprises several compartments 3-6, each including a member 11 and winch means two of which may carry replacement blade into while the other two are used for removing blade units. Each winch may have its own power unit or be pneumatically driven. Jacks (10), Fig. 2 (not shown) allow vertical adjustment of the support.
