Abstract
938,011. Screw-sockets; dowels. GLAREX A.G. Feb. 3, 1960 [Feb. 4,1959], No. 3828/60. Classes 89 (1) and 89 (2). An expansible screw-socket of the type having three members arranged in axial succession within its bore, which tapers towards the inner end, has the three members each deformable to a different degree by means of a screw 10 received in the socket 1, the deformability of the rear member 9, which is at least partly elastically deformable, lying between the deformability of the harder forward member 7 and that of the softer intermediate member 8. The forward member 7 is a coned-sleeve of brass or aluminium adapted to expand the split-end of the socket and has a smaller taper-angle than the end of the socket-bore. The intermediate member 8 is of lead and on compression is adapted to " flow " around the cone sleeve and into the " splits " of the socket. The rear member 9 is of polyamide material and becomes partly distorted to effect a frictional locking action on the screw and cone. The end of the socket 1 may stand proud of the wall &c., to act as a dowel for positioning the part to be secured. One or both of the members 7, 8 may be of synthetic plastics material.
