Abstract
937,858. Valves. ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS DE REMIREMONT. Dec. 14, 1961 [Oct.11, 1961], No. 44783/61. Class 135. A movable flap 1 is provided in a chamber 3 communicating with spacers containing valves 11, 11<SP>1</SP> which normally operate in unison either to supply compressed air to a device or to block the supply and connect the device to exhaust, the arrangement being such that if one of the valves 11, 11<SP>1</SP> is seized in the. supply position the flap 1 shuts it off from the channel 5 communicating with the device. When compressed air is to be supplied through the channel 5, for example to the clutch of a mechanical press, two magnets 12 and 12<SP>1</SP> are energized to open a pair of valves 10 and 10<SP>1</SP> permitting air from a supply passage 7 to flow through bores 8 and 14 to the underside of a pair of actuating pistons 9 and 9<SP>1</SP> for the valves 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. Air from the passage 7 now flows through the latter valves into the chamber 3 containing the asymmetrically pivoted flap 1 and into the channel 5. When the valves 11, 11<SP>1</SP> are again closed, air escapes from the duct 5 as shown by the arrows in Fig. 1. If one of these valves fails to close, the flap 1 is pivoted by the consequent pressure differential to a position 16 or 16<SP>1</SP> so that escape of air from the channel 5 is not impeded.
