Abstract

[Also in Group XXX] A spring drum 8, Fig 1, for attachment tc footwear for tightening the laces 12 is braked for holding the laces by radially slidable rods 21 urged outwardly by a " C " spring 25 and carrying shoes 26 which engage with an annular projection 20 on a member 17 rotatable with the drum 8. The rods 21 project through the outer casing 1 to form press-buttons 23, 24, Fig. 3, for manual release of the braking when the laces 12 are to be drawn out or tightened. A spindle 5 carrying the drum assembly 8, 17 also projects through the casing 1 for engagement by the operator's finger to reduce the speed of the drum by friction.
