Abstract
937,713. Magnetic switches. RONALD TRIST & CO. Ltd. May 7, 1962 [May 5, 1961], No. 16451/61. Class 38 (5). [Also in Groups XIII and XVIII] In a magnetic switching device as described in Specification 765,708, the mercury switch 17 is mounted on a rocking member 14 connected to the driven magnet 8 to rock with it but limited in its rocking movement by stops 18, 19, the connection between member 14 and magnet 8 being adjustable so that while the angle through which member 14 rocks remains constant the angle of rocking of magnet 8 can be varied. Member 14 is a bell-crank with the switch 17 on one arm and a slotted arm 13, and the frame 9 of magnet 8 has a slotted arm 12 overlapping arm 13 and connected to it by a pin 15 and slide 16 providing the adjustable connection. The lower arm of bell-crank 14 carries a third magnet 28 which is in magnetic repulsion with the driving magnet 5 so that when magnet 5 is in its lowest position C the switch 17 is closed. In normal operation when the driving magnet 5 is in position A, switch 17 is open, and when magnet 5 moves to position B the switch is closed, switch 17 being in the electric circuit of a liquid supply pump for a boiler in which the liquid level is controlled (see Groups XIII and XVIII).
