Abstract
937,608. Conical mills; mixing appliances. R. J. LAMB. March 29, 1960 [March 30, 1959], No. 11110/60. Classes 59 and 86. Apparatus for conditioning materials e.g. reducing their particle size, comprises a rotor 38 and a stator 12 each arranged in tiers provided with indentations, the indentations on the rotor being provided with radial rebound faces 41 and the indentations on the stator being provided with rebound faces 20. The stator is enclosed in a housing 26 which may be provided with heating tubes 39. Material to be conditioned, which may be a solid, liquid or gas or a mixture of any or all of these, is introduced into a reservoir 29 in the housing 26 and passes through an inlet 16 into a perforated distributing cup 46 disposed at the upper end of the rotor. A valve-controlled pipe 27 may conduct gaseous material into the stator chamber 14 and gases may be evacuated from the chamber 14 by means of a valve-controlled conduit 30. The stator has a discharge passage 23. The stator may be replaced by a rotor. Specification 850,928 is referred to.
