Abstract

937,463. Counters. MOSCOVSKAYA PECHATNAYA FABRICA GOZNAK. Jan. 11, 1961, No. 1151/61. Class 106 (1). A device for counting the number of sheets in a bundle comprises a rotating conical disc with a part cut away to form a thin leading edge and a pneumatic system arranged to draw the corner of the uppermost sheet over said leading edge so as to contact detecting means. First embodiment.-The conical disc 3 is placed on top of one corner of the bundle 2. As the disc rotates the top sheet is pulled up. wards by suction from apertures 13, 14, 15 so as to ride over leading edge 9 and break contact between brush 20 and terminal 19. The resulting impulse steps on a counter 23. The disc 3 is supplied with suction from a source 18. As it rotates the disc 3 works downwards through the bundle under the force of gravity. Second embodiment, Figs. 5-8. To prevent two sheets from being picked up and counted as one the disc may have a second cut-away portion 9, Fig. 6, with a suction part 34, Fig. 7, directed to pull the second sheet downwards. The top sheet covers an open passage 37 between two parts 35, 36 to pull up a diaphragm 42 in a chamber 39 connected to the system. Movement of the diaphragm opens contacts 43, 47 to advance a counter 46. Specification 744,957 is referred to.
