Abstract

936,670. Extrusion coating tubes. REIFENHAUSER G.m.b.H. Jan. 18, 1960 [Jan. 17, 1959], No. 1791/60. Addition to 883,562. Class 87(2). The method of the parent invention is modified by admitting gas under pressure into the interior of the coated tube. The gas is admitted through an annular space 7 between the mandrel 4 and the tube 6 used to fill the extruded container. The apparatus is further modified by the provision of a ring 17 which has an inwardly projecting flange serving to keep apart the overlapping edges of the tube 10 until the sealing strip from the nozzle 8 has been applied to one inner by edge the strip 10. The amount of sealing supplied is adjustable by means of a screw 9 and the strip 10 is pressed against the nozzle by a leaf spring 11. A fixed roller 13 and spring loaded roller 15, located after the ring 17, press together the edges of the strip 10. Heaters 19, 20 are provided and the lined, filled tube is tetrahedrally welded to produce a container, Fig. 9 (not shown).
