936,376. Centrifugal separators. VOLMA N.V. Jan. 31, 1962, No. 3613/62. Class 23. Powdered material is prevented from settling on the wall of the eduction mouth 2 of one or each of a number of cyclones 1 positioned on an outlet conduit 3 by means of a rotary vane wheel 4 mounted in the mouth 2 with its rotational axis coinciding with the cyclone axis. The wheel may be rotated by the whirling of gas in the cyclone or, as shown, by an electric motor 5 secured to the underside of the conduit 3. In the latter case, the vanes may be so shaped and driven at such a speed that they displace gas from the cyclone into the conduit 3 so that, in the event of a higher pressure prevailing in the conduit, leakage of gas from the latter into the cyclone is prevented.
