Abstract
628,212. Centrifugal separators. AEREX, Ltd., and REEVES, H. C. Sept. 17, 1947, No. 25406. [Class 23] [Also in Group XXVI] The inlet of a screw fan is provided with means for rotating the induced flow and with an outlet skimming the flow and leading to a dust collector, the return pipe from which re-enters the inlet. In one embodiment, Fig. 4, the induced flow is rotated by guide vanes o and is skimmed through gaps p<SP>1</SP>, p<SP>2</SP> into a dust hopper q. A return pipe r leads back to the fan inlet b by way of an induction slot t. A further skimming gap j in the diffuser h is connected to the hopper q by way of a pipe u and valve v. The direction of rotation of the impeller a is opposite to that induced by the guide vanes o. The inclination of the latter may be adjustable. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, the rotation of the flow is induced by a spiral scroll d leading to the fan inlet. A skimming outlet e leads by way of a pipe f<SP>1</SP> to a dust collector f. A return pipe g leads to the eye of the scroll. A skimming gap in the diffuser leads by way of an injector m' into the dust collector. According to the Provisional Specification, the dust collector may be of the cyclone type.
