936,221. Feeding webs. OZALID CO. Ltd., and A. L. ROBERTSON. Jan. 29, 1960 [Oct. 30, 1958], No. 34791/58. Class 100 (1). [Also in Group XX] In an electrophographic printing apparatus as shown, in which sheets of copy material are conveyed successively past sensitizing, exposing, developing and fixing stations (see Group XX), web material from a roll 2 is fed round a guide roller 3 and capstan rollers 4, 5 to a guillotine mechanism 8-13 where it is cut into sheets of desired length. Roller 6 of the roller pair 6, 7 is driven fast enough to keep the web taut round the rollers 4, 5. During the cutting of the web by a blade 10, the said web is clamped by a plate 9, roller 13 is moved away from driven roller 12 and a loop of web forms behind the guillotine. After each cutting action, roller 13 is lowered against the driven roller 12 so that the said loop is quickly removed. One of rollers 4, 5 may be constructed as a metering roller geared to means for producing electric pulses every time, say ¢ inch of web is fed out. A control mechanism may be adapted to count the said pulses, and to actuate the guillotine after an adjustable pre-selected number of such pulses. Specification 901,451 is referred to.
