Abstract

The target area of an anode for an X-ray tube consists of a W-Re alloy containing 5-35% Re. 5-25% W may be replaced by one or more refractory metals having a vapour pressure not exceeding 10-5 mm. Hg at 2,000 DEG C., e.g. Nb, Ta. The alloy may be a coating on a base of W or Mo or their alloys and may be formed by powder metallurgy.
