Abstract

935,912. Cleaning coke oven doors &c. DESIGN OFFICE OF KOKSOCHIMMASH GUIPROKOKS. March 9, 1961, No. 8617/61. Class 99(2). Apparatus for cleaning coke oven doors comprises a roller-mounted frame, a travel mechanism for moving the cleaning mechanism to and from the oven, a guide formed by two channel sections 4 arranged parallel to one another and provided with four internal detachable inserts 5 in the middle part of the guide to facilitate the mounting of chains and carriages, the cleaning mechanism consisting of sidecleaning carriages 8, two lower carriages 9 and two upper carriages 10. The carriages travel with a reciprocating motion on rollers and carry spring-mounted metal-wire brushes 27, 28 inter-connected by a spring-compensated chain-bearing face-cleaning brushes 12, and the driving mechanism comprises an electric motor, a worm and worm-wheel reduction gear 14, a. chain transmission 15 and a chain rack 16 to effect a reciprocating motion of the carriages, and a master switch to effect reversal of the carriage driving means. To compensate for inaccuracy of the position of the door and to ensure the necessary pressure of the brusheson the surfaces to be cleaned, the side-cleaning and face-cleaning brushes are fixed to the same carriage bracket, and, under the action of springs and by means of a lever system, are adapted to be moved into a predetermined position. As shown, the cleaning mechanism is mounted on rollers 1 running on the door-removing machine and is moved towards and withclrawn from the door by an electric motor 2 the limit of travel of the mechanism being controlled by a switch coupled to the mechanism shaft 3 Reversal of the cleaning mechanism drive is effected by a switch, and limitation of the travel of the mechanism is controlled by limit switches 19 and stops 20. The door-removing gear turns through an angle of 90 degrees together with the removed door and the motor 2 moves the cleaning mechanism by means of a reduction gear 25 and a lever system 26 in contact with the door frame so that the brushes 27 extend over the securing devices of the door brickwork and the brushes 28 enter the sealing frame diaphragm, the motor of the driving mechanism then being started to transmit motion to the chain racks 16 fixed on the carriages to reciprocate the latter.
