Abstract

A composition of matter comprises a synthetic linear polyamide and a silicate of a metal of Group II, III and IV of the Periodic Table, said polyamide being a long chain synthetic polymeric carbonamide having recurring carbonamide groups as an integral part of the main polymer chain and which is capable of being formed into a filament by orientation along the fibre axis. In the example, hexamethylene diammonium adipate is polymerized in the presence of (a) lead silicate sulphate, (b) magnesium silicate and (c) aluminium silicate. U.S.A. Specifications 2,071,250, 2,071,253 and 2,130,948 are referred to.
