935,206. Tentering fabrics. MARSHALL & WILLIAMS CORPORATION. March 28, 1962, No. 11971/62. Class 42 (2). A two-piece tenter chain element comprises a base 10 having a rail engaging face 43, upper and lower oppositely disposed chain connecting ears 11, 11A, 12, 12A, a seat 40 having guide rails 45, 46 formed in the ears 11, 12 and an aligning edge 41 formed at the intersection of the seat 40 and the face 43; a fabric holding element 50 or 50A comprising a super-structure having a horizontally disposed bottom 51 or 51A provided with a pad 59, 59A or 76 and an aligning edge 53 or 53A formed in the pad 59, 59A or 76; and means 25 to removably secure the fabric holding element 50 or 50A to the base 10. The element 50 or 50A overlies the base 10 so that the bottom 51 or 51A engages the seat 40, the edge 41 engages the edge 53 or 53A, the rails 45, 46 and also the pad 59, 59A or 76 abutting the face 43 align the bottom 51 or 51A, and the pad 59, 59A or 76 abutting the face 43 and the rails 45, 46 prevent movement of the element 50 or 50A on the base 10. In one embodiment, Figs. 2, 3, 7 and 8, the element 50 comprises a tenter clip having a pivoted jaw 60 with an inserted strip 62 to co-operate with a plate 58 secured to the bottom 51. The jaw 60 is actuated by a cam-operated arm 68. In a second embodiment, Figs. 3 and 5, the element 50A comprises a pin block including a pin plate 70 secured in a groove 71.
