Abstract

934,283. Dust-laden gas filters. COTTON BROS. (LONGTON) Ltd., and G. S. WOOTTON. Nov. 30, 1961 [April 21, 1961], No. 14413/61. Class 8(2). A dust-laden gas filter comprises at least two textile fabric tubes 11, 12, Fig. 2, coaxially disposed one within the other and connected together at their juxtaposed ends that movement of gas passing between the tubes causes the inner tube 11 to oscillate and beat against the outer tube 12 thereby facilitating cleaning. As shown the tubes are arranged vertically, are of truncated form and are formed from a single sheet of material. The upper and lower ends have fittings 13, 14 whilst the closure cap 15 at the lower end of the inner tube 12 is either weighted or connected by light springs to the fitting 14. In a modification the upper ends of an outer cylindrical filter tube and a separate inner frustroconical tube are connected to a ring cap 16, Fig. 3, and a tube 17 respectively of the upper fitting 13. In both constructions the tubes may be reinforced by annular rings secured at intervals thereto.
