Abstract

933.557. Foot- and seat-onerated flushing devices for cisterns. PALLEON ELECTRONICS Ltd. Nov. 18, 1961, No. 41352/61. Class 26. An automatic toilet-flushing apparatus comprising a circuit includes a normally-open person-operated circuit switch, a time-delay thermoswitch 25, a relay 26 with a weighted armature 42, the latter on release momentarily energizing a second relay 32 to complete the circuit to an electric flushing device 10, e.g. a solenoid-actuated one. There may be two circuit switches, 4 and 6, in parallel, (seat- and foot-operated, respectively), operating the thermoswitch 25 on closing of either to co-act with the relay 26. The thermoswitch 25 operates to delay the energizing of the relay 26 on closure of a circuit switch and the de-energizing thereof when the circuit is broken so that the armature 42 is energized and held inactive whilst one of the switches 4, 6 is closed and for a time thereafter. In the circuit is a rectifier 27 to supply current to the relay 26 and a charging capacitor 31, discharging through the coil of the relay 32. The capacitor 31 is affected for just a brief period, when the relay contacts 36 "make" " because of the resulting spring action, due to the special weighting (by a head 46) of the armature 42, when its coil 40 is de-energized, so that leaf springs 41 relax and the armature 42 moves upward. The thermoswitch 25, relay 26, relay 32 together with a transformer 37 and capacitors 30, 31, 35 are comprised in a box 7,
