932,705. High-frequency surgery. SIEMENSREINIGER-WERKE A.G. March 8, 1962, [March 9, 1961], No. 9004/62. Class 81 (2). In order to reduce the fire and explosion risk when high-frequency surgical apparatus is used the equipment is divided into two units 5, 7 connected by a low-impedance cable 6. The power supplies, with the oscillation generator and a step-down transformer are accommodated in the unit 7 while the small unit 5, which may be placed close to the operating table, contains only a step-up transformer with an adjustable output and means for connecting it to the electrodes 15, 18. With this arrangement the heavy, main part of the equipment, in the unit 7, may be located well away from the operating table 1, so not only leaving more working space at the table but also keeping the apparatus away from any explosive vapours near the patient. The small unit 5 may be mounted on a column 4 or suspended from a wall or ceiling, so as to be above the level of the relatively heavy vapours.
