Abstract

910,420. X-ray apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 8, 1961 [Feb. 8, 1960], No. 4366/60. Class 98 (1). [Also in Group XXXV] Radiographic apparatus comprises an X-ray tube and an H.F. transformer mounted together in a head as a single unit, and a transistor oscillator whose output is fed to the transformer. In the form shown, the head, which is intended for dental work, is a mild steel pressing 1 containing the X-ray tube 2 and H.F. step-up transformer 3. This latter is described in more detail with reference to Fig. 3 (not shown) (see Group XXXV). The components 2 and 3 may be surrounded by a filling 4 of foamed silicone rubber, or oil. The transformer is fed with the output of a transistor oscillator and amplifier (see Group XXXV). Since an H.F. transformer is smaller than a mains frequency transformer, the head unit is smaller and lighter, and more readily supported from a dental chair, for example by an arm 7.
