Abstract

A ferromagnetic composition comprises as sole transition element 61-75 at per cent of Fe, Co, Ni, V, Cr, or Mn and at least two of the group Ga, Ge, Te, Se, As, Sb, Bi (39-25 at per cent) As, Sb or Bi constituting the major atom percentage of the latter group of elements. The composition is made by making a mixture of the ingredients and heating to 600 DEG -1400 DEG C. at atmospheric pressure or under super pressure under a blanket of an inert gas or in a vacuum when the reactants produce an autogenous pressure. Specification 927,312 is referred to.ALSO:A ferromagnetic composition comprises as sole transition element 61-75 at. per cent of Fe, Co, Ni, V, Cr or Mn and at least two of the group Ga, Ge, Te, Se, As, Sb, Bi (39-25 at. per cent), As, Sb or Bi constituting the major atom percentage of the latter group of elements.
