932,455. Mineral - mining installations. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. May 17, 1960 [May 22, 1959], No. 17430/60. Class 68 (1). In a plough-type mineral-mining installation in which a plough 21 is guided along a face 2 by an associated conveyer and separate drives 3, 4 and 18 are provided for the conveyer and the haulage of the plough, the driving and/or reversal stations 18, 19 of the haulage chain 20 of the plough is or are supported on shiftable roof-supporting frameworks 5, 6. Each roofsupporting framework 5, 6 consists of a pair of parallel floor plates 10, each plate having three upstanding expandable props 7, 8, 9 for engaging the roof. Pivoted about the leading prop 9 on one plate 10 is a link 15 that is slotted at 17 to enable it to loosely embrace the prop 9 on the other plate 10. A piston-cylinder unit is secured between the plates at the rear thereof by straps 12, 14 extending between the cylinder 11 and piston-rod 13 respectively of the unit, which enables the plates 10 to be advanced alternately on suitable setting of the props 7, 8, 9. The driving or reversing station of the haulage chain 20 is slidably mounted on the link 15 of the associated framework and can be moved along the link to cause adjustment of the chain tension by a jack 23 extending between the links 15 and the frame of the station. The ends of the conveyer are coupled by draft links 25 so that the conveyer is dragged forward as the frameworks are advanced.
