Abstract
932,115. Automatic level control. SCHUCHTERMANN & KREMER-BAUM A.G. FUR AUFBEREITUNG. Oct. 26, 1959 [Nov. 8, 1958], No. 36254/59. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XXX] Pivoted feeler G senses the flow of coal from charging shoot H into spiral shoot W and controls the position of pivoted discharge flap F so that the spiral shoot remains substantially full of coal irrespective of the input whereby abrasion is minimised. Feeler G operates control switches A, B, which control electric actuator L which operates flap F, which in turn operates control switches C, D. Circuit operation (Fig. 2). Input increasing.- When shoot H is full and the coal begins to pile up in the charging shoot H, feeler G is caused to pivot to a part-open position. This actuates switch A which moves contact a to a 1 , d being closed; this actuates time relay Z 1 which operates contact Z 1 : this actuates opening relay M A which operates electric actuator L. This half-opens flap F. If the coal continues to pile up, feeler G is caused to pivot to a full-open position. This actuates switch B 1 which moves contact b to b 2 . This actuates relay Z 1 (as before) and consequently operates actuator L to full open flap F. The actuator simultaneously opens contact e 1 to break the circuit and to leave the flap fully opened. Input decreasing.-The full opening of the flap (see above) additionally actuates switch C and thus closes contact c. Hence, if the level of coal decreases, feeler G drops to the half-open position and in so doing, actuates relay Z 2 , which operates closing relay M 2 which causes actuator L to move flap F to the half-open position. Similarly, if level of coal further decreases, feeler G moves to the closed position and again operates closing relay M 2 and brings flap F to the final closed position, and this completes the cycle. Height control of shoot W (Fig. 1).-The height of the spiral shoot W is controlled by feeler T, positioned at the bottom of the shoot. When the discharged coal piles up it displaces feeler T which actuates switch E which causes the spiral shoot to be elevated above the level of the discharged coal.
