932,098. Packaging machines. SAPAL, SOC. ANON. DES PLIEUSES AUTOMATIQUES. Sept. 28, 1961 [Dec. 21, 1960], No. 34864/61. Class 94(1). A device deposits single articles in individual compartments of a container moved in a straight line several depositing stations at a uniform speed. Containers 12 are moved by conveyer 10 beneath stations 1, 2, 3 &c. having rotary discs 4, 5, 6 &c. carrying articles 7, 8, 9 &c. in hollows. Each disc is carried above a fixed disc 13, Fig. 2, on a shaft 14 rotated by a disc 15 and pins 16 driven intermittently from the conveyer drive so that the speed of the article is the same during depositing as that of containers 12. A further shaft 17 carries arm 18 and suction cup 20 and is raised and lowered and reciprocated rotationally synchronisally with the conveyer drive means. At the depositing stage, arm 18 rotates with the disc 4, 5, 6 &c. and moves down so that suction cup 20 grips an article; the arm 18 then moves down to pass the article through an opening in disc 13 into container 12. The vacuum is then released and arm 18 moved upwardly and rearwardly. The discs 4, 5, 6 &c. may be changed to accommodate different shaped articles. The stations may be moved perpendicularly to the conveyer 11 to fill any desired row of the containers. Several small articles may be deposited in each compartment.
