Abstract

A semi-conductive composition comprises an ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer of melt index 0,01-200 and 30-50% of electrically conductive carbon black, the ethyl acrylate content of the copolymer is 5-40% and the composition has a volume resistivity of less than 2,500 ohm-cm. The carbon may be acetylene black or of any desired type or size, e.g. less than 60 milli m . The copolymer may be produced continuously in a tubular reactor at 20,000-40,000 p.s.i. and 100 DEG -350 DEG C. The carbon may be mixed with the copolymer at 25 DEG C. in a mixer, e.g. extruder. The composition may be cross-linked and contain aromatic amines, fatty acid amides, butyl rubber, 0,25-3% dicumyl peroxide or 4,41-thio-bis-(3-methyl-6-tertiary-butyl phenol).
