931,828. Printing surfaces. SEMPERIT OSTERREICHISCH - AMERIKANISCHE GUMMIWERKE A.G. May 19, 1960 [May 19, 1959], No. 17748/60. Class 100 (2). A vulcanized elastic printing surface comprises a butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer, a hardenable resin, a filler and a thermoplastic polymeric material. The sum of the vulcanizable and hardenable constituents and fillers is preferably equal to or greater than the sum of the non-vulcanizable and non-hardenable constituents. The thermoplastic material may be polyvinyl chloride (plasticized or unplasticized) or polyacrylic acid esters. The following is a suitable mixture:- Parts by weight Butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer - 100 Sulphur - - - - - 1.5 Tetramethyl thiuram monosulphide 0.5 Zinc oxide - - - - - 5 Stearic acid - - - - 1 Polyvinyl chloride - - - 100 Phenol formaldehyde resin - - 50 and active carbon black as filler - - 50 The surface may be laminated to other layers to form a printing block or a thin film of the mixture may be applied, e.g. by brushing or spraying, to a rigid printing surface.
