Abstract

931,660. Stretching; upsetting. W. ECKOLD. June 19, 1961 [June 18, 1960], No. 22083/61. Class 83 (4). A machine for highspeed stretching or upsetting of hand - controlled metal sheets comprises trim-operated deforming tools that act on opposite sides of sheets positioned between them, wherein at least one of the tool heads 2 of the tools is separated from the adjacent end of the supporting ram 1 on which it is mounted by a member 3 detachably fastened either to the tool-head or to that supporting ram, which member has an arched supporting surface in a flush fit with an inversely arched supporting surface on whichever of the tool head and the supporting ram therefor to which the member is not so fastened, and the mounting of the tool head on the said supporting ram is such as to permit movement of the tool head with respect to the supporting ram in such manner that the said flush surfaces slide with respect to one another so as to achieve a complete surface application of the said tool on a sheet positioned between the tools in the case of eccentric pressure transmission. The member 3 which is made of a synthetic resin material is detachably secured to the tool head 2 by a screw 4 and pins 5 prevent twisting. The movement of the jaws 6 towards one another during the deforming action of the tool is effected by obliquely aligned blades or rollers positioned at 7. Rotary movement of the tool head is limited by rubber pads 8 press-fitted in recesses in the arched surface portions of the member 3 and the ram head 1.
