Abstract
The invention comprises 5,51-disubstituted tetrahydro-1,3-oxazin-(2)-ones of the general formula <FORM:0931571/IV(a)/1> where R1 and R2 are alkyl, aralkyl or aryl and R3 is hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl or aryl, and the preparation thereof by condensing amino-alcohols of the general formula <FORM:0931571/IV(a)/2> with diethyl carbonate in the presence of an alkaline catalyst and distilling off the ethyl alcohol formed; the products are recovered by vacuum distillation. Examples describe the preparation of the compounds wherein R1, R2 and R3 have the values:-(1) ethyl; ethyl; hydrogen: (2) ethyl; propyl; hydrogen: (3) ethyl; allyl; hydrogen: (4) ethyl; butyl; hydrogen: (5) ethyl; benzyl; hydrogen: (6) ethyl; phenyl; hydrogen: (7) ethyl; ethyl; ethyl. The catalyst used is sodium methoxide; sodium carbonate can also be used.
