Abstract

931,131. Supplying liquid fuel to burners. KUHLAPPARATE G.m.b.H. Nov. 30, 1959 [Dec. 24, 1958], No. 40662/59. Class 75 (1). Oil fuel is delivered periodically from a container 1 to a duct 3 leading to a dish burner 4 by an adjustable device and all the fuel delivered to the duct is delivered to the burner dish. In Fig. 1 the adjustable device is a wheel carrying pivoted buckets 11 which dip into the oil in the container and are tipped to deliver part of the oil into the duct 3 by adjustable pins 12 on the bottoms of the buckets engaging an adjustable stop 14 controlled for example by a thermostat. The pins 12 are of different lengths. At starting the thermostat moves the stop 14 gradually towards the periphery of the wheel as the temperature of the burner rises so that the buckets with short pins come to be tilted to increase the supply of oil to the burner. The wheel is rotated by a variable-speed motor or a synchronous motor. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the oil is raised by buckets pivoted on a chain driven by an electric motor. A counter records the number of buckets that have passed. In Fig. 3 (not shown) a single bucket is reciprocated in a tube immersed in the fuel container by a crank arm and connecting-rod driven by an electric motor. A projection on the side of the bucket abuts a stop on the duct delivering the fuel to the burner and causes the bucket to tilt so that the fuel therein flows into the delivery duct. In Fig. 4 (not shown) a single bucket is pivoted by a crank arm and a connecting-rod and a gearwheel pump continuously raises the oil from the container and directs it into the bucket. Oil overflowing from the bucket is led back to the container and when the bucket tilts all the oil it contains flows into a duct leading to the burner. The length of the crank arm and its speed of rotation are variable. A time control may switch the oil conveying device on and off periodically.
