Abstract

1,061,841. Forming candles by dipping. LILJEHOLMENS STEARINFABRIKS A.B. Jan. 28, 1965 [Feb. 7, 1964], No. 3791/65. Heading B5A. In manufacturing candles by dipping loaded wick lengths into a container of molten candle composition, a device is provided for adjusting the depth of immersion of the wicks. Loaded wick lengths 3 are fastened to a frame 4 carried by a holder 5 and several frames move on a conveyer mounted on the ceiling. One section, 8, of the conveyer is fastened to a dipping arm 7 slidably mounted on a stand 9 and when a frame moves on to this section the arm is caused to move down by means of a compression cylinder 11 to dip the wicks into molten wax in a container 1. Movement of the arm is arrested by contact of an adjustment wheel 13 on the arm with a stop 14 on the stand, the adjustment wheel having a radius decreasing continuously or step-by-step in the direction of turning. The arm is then moved back up and another frame passes on to the section 8 and the process is repeated. When all the frames have been dipped once, i.e. one dipping cycle is completed, the wheel 13 is turned through one turning unit by means of a handle 24 through gears 20, 21 so that in the next dipping cycle the radius of the wheel at the point contacting the stop 14 is smaller than before and thus the wicks are dipped further into the molten wax. The cycle is repeated until the wheel has been turned through all the turning units.
