931,081. Tools for joining laminated belts. T. WHITTLE & SONS Ltd. Jan. 9, 1961 [Jan. 15, 1960], No. 1490/60. Class 61. A tool for joining or unjoining laminated belts of the type comprising stepped links 17 joined together by headed studs 18 accommodated in aligned apertures through the links, comprises a rod 10 having a flattened end 11 provided with a bifurcation or notch 13 and capable of insertion through an aperture as at 22 or 22x in a link 17 or 17x whereby the bifurcation or notch can be engaged with the respective stud 18, the belt being either joined or unjoined by rotation of the tool about the respective stud thus displacing the relative link over the respective stud head. In operation the tool acts as a lever the stud shank being the fulcrum; the tool widens the aperture 22 and passes it over the head of the required stud 18. The other end of the tool is flattened and cranked and has a bifurcation 15 in the side thereof which may be used to unjoin the belting.
