In an overload release clutch the facial teeth 14, 15 of the engageable members 9, 10 are of substantially constant-width trapezoidal crosssection with straight flanks and are curved longitudinally in the radial direction, so that they make contact with each other over their full length during engagement and disengagement. The members 9, 10 are normally held in engagement by an axial spring consisting of two dished washers 13, the force exerted being adjustable by a screw cap 12.
