Abstract

790,358. Syncromesh clutches. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Sept. 20, 1956 [Sept. 21, 1955], No. 28822/56. Class 80 (2). In a synchromesh unit a coupling member 2 is fixed to a shaft 1 and two striking rings 5, 6 are mounted axially slidable on the coupling member 2 so that their cones can be engaged with coacting cones in the members 3, 4. Axially slidable drivers 7 carried in coupling 2 are embraced by a shift-sleeve 9 axially slidable by an operator 10. The shift sleeve 9 is toothed in relation to the coupling member 2 and, on axial displacement, presses aside the locking teeth 11, 12 and comes into engagement with the coupling teeth 13, 14 on the members 3, 4. The drivers 7 are connected to the shift sleeve 9 through spring locking pins 15. The striking rings 5, 6 are coupled together by tension springs 18 with hemispherical end supports 19 to urge them out of frictional contact. In. a single synchromesh unit the springs 18 may be connected at their free ends to the member 2.
