Abstract
929,941. Reactors. DE HAVILLAND ENGINE CO. Ltd. May 23, 1960 [June 1, 1959], No. 18688/59. Class 39 (4). In a nuclear reactor power plant, the steam generating heat-exchangers and the reactor are mounted together inside a pressure vessel which is itself enclosed in a second pressure vessel surrounded by biological shielding. As shown, the core 1 and boilers 5 are mounted within the inner pressure vessel 2 which is enclosed within the outer pressure vessel formed of cylinders 14, 16. Biological shielding is mounted within casing 17 and comprises the steel shells 18-24 immersed in water. The shells 18-24 are alternately sealed at their upper and lower ends so as to form a labyrinth seal. Specification 912,208 is referred to.
