929,919. Electric speed indicating system. BENDIX CORPORATION. Oct. 17, 1961 [Oct. 20, 1960], No. 37210/61. Class 40 (1). In a speed measuring device pulses generated in coil 15 (Fig. 3) at a rate proportional to the rotational speed of the device are used to connect a charging source 31 to a condenser 30 by making transistor 24 conductive. A discharge unit 51, 45 is provided for the condenser which discharges completely between charging pulses which are applied via diode 39 and temperature compensating resistor 42. Hence member 40 in series with the charging circuit indicates the average charging current and thus the rotational speed directly. Fig. 1 shows a coil assembly 18 supported in a magneto to produce pulses at a rate proportional to speed. The transistor makes only alternate pulses effective. A voltage regulating Zener diode 36 and resistor 34 are provided for the source 31. A number of each speed measuring devices may be connected to a single voltage source (Fig. 4, not shown).
