Abstract

928,713. Two-part couplings; binding-posts. HARVEY HUBBELL Inc. Feb. 1, 1962, No. 3947/62. Class 38 (1). A terminal screw is prevented from projecting beyond the casing of a socket outlet. The outlet comprises an insulated box 11 with a detachable rear cover 43 which retains the contacts 16. Two plates 24, 25 enable the socket outlet to be mounted in a wall box 17. Each set of contacts 16 is integral with a curved plate 31 leading to a hole in the wall of the box 11 which gives access to the terminal screw 34. The screw 34 is captive in a slot in an upturned shoulder 33 on the plate 31 and engages an oblong, dished nut 35 which is prevented from rotating by the plate 31 so that a wire can be clamped between the shoulder 33 and the inside face of the nut, which is notched, Fig. 7 (not shown), to receive the wire.
