928,686. Lock-washers. E. JORDAN. Dec. 8, 1959 [Dec. 11, 1958], No. 41630/59. Class 89(1). A lock-washer has twisted locking teeth 26 and two biting edges a<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>1</SP> on opposite sides of gap R and on opposite sides of the washer. The biting edges are inclined relatively to each other and include an angle opening towards the washer centre. The edges may be formed by upsetting the ends adjacent the gap and are stated to prevent spreading of the washer when clamped by a nut. The washer may be made from a straight strip, and may consist of more than a single convolution. Teeth may be provided on only one convolution or on the outside of one and the inside of the next adjacent one.
