Abstract
928,197. Transformers. TUBE PRODUCTS Ltd. March 8, 1962 [March 14, 1961], No. 9222/61. Class 38 (2). A transformer for high-frequency welding has a single turn secondary formed from copper sheet and comprising inner shell 12 and concentric outer shell 13, a primary coil 10 of polythene covered copper tube being situated within the annular space between the two shells this space being closed at each end by copper plates 15 having radial slots 17 in alignment with longitudinal gaps 14 in the two shells. Output terminal blocks 19 for connection to a welding head are brazed to the outer shell on either side of the gap and a sheet of insulation 21 separates these blocks and extends into the inner shell, the primary winding being threaded through the slot 22. Cooling liquid is passed through the primary coil and between the two secondary shells.
