Abstract
928,180. Building-units. R. PICHON. Feb. 6, 1961 [Feb. 24, 1960; Jan. 23, 1961], No. 4403/61. Class 87 (1). [Also in Group XXIII] A building panel comprises boards 1, 1a, 1b with two or more spacers 2, 3 between adjacent boards and the lengthwise direction of both the boards and the spacers disposed parallel to the base of the panel. The material used may be wood, plastics, compressed wood, concrete casings filled with asbestos, glass or similar materials. The boards and spacers are flush with each other on one face of the panel and on the other face, which will be the exterior face in use, the boards extend beyond the spacers. The boards preferably slope downwards towards the exterior face and the panel is completed by a base board 11 having a sloping upper face. The spacers are glued in grooves 6, 7 in the boards, but the grooves can be omitted and the panel braced by upright rod or tubes through apertures 8 in the boards. Holes 9, 9a are provided in the spacers to allow the panel to breathe and the bracing tubes are apertured to provide communication between the spaces 4 or, if rods are used, the holes 8 have grooves along their length. The spaces 4 may be filled with insulating material such as fibreglass, asbestos, cork or plastics.
