[Also in Group XXIV] A positive clutch for clutching a mine winder drum to a driving shaft 1 comprises an internally toothed sleeve 16 constantly engaging a toothed wheel 5 fast on a shaft 2 connected to the drum (not shown) an axially slidable to engage a toothed wheel 7 connected by rubber bushed bolts 10 to the driving shaft 1. The rubber bushings permit limited misalignment between the shafts, and a similar coupling may also be used at the other end of the driving shaft. In the disengaged position of the clutch sleeve external teeth 17 on the sleeve engage teeth 19 on a stationary housing 18 to hold the driven shaft stationary.
