Abstract

927,824. Control of A.C. motors; controllers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. March 23, 1962 [April 14, 1961], No. 13527/61. Class 38 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] A torque control device 2 for an induction motor 1 receives a signal from magnetic amplifiers 3, 4, having control windings 6, 7, energized in accordance with the set speed of the motor. Control windings 8, 9 are energized in response to the actual speed, the torque control signal derived from the output of the amplifiers corresponding to the difference between the speed signals in the absence of any bias. Potentiometer 13 is cam-adjusted to set the pattern speed according to the position of the load, this potentiometer being fed from induction regulator 16 the output of which depends on the setting of a control lever. Fine control at 1ow speeds is provided by saturable reactor 17. Load-compensation is afforded by biasing windings 10, 11, energized during deceleration in accordance with the loading at a predetermined point prior to the commencement of deceleration, a potentiometer 18 having an adjustable tapping 19 which is set automatically in dependence of the loading at that point. During acceleration and full speed operations of the motor, a fixed bias is derived from tapping 24 on potentiometer 18. For manual control, biasing signals are derived from a further fixed tapping 25. Specifications 740,257 and 803,224 are referred to.
