Abstract

The invention comprises guanylhydrazones of the general formula: Ph-C(,R)=N-NH-C(:NH)-NH2 and salts thereof with inorganic and organic acids (including lysine, arginine, tryptophan, and methionine), wherein Ph represents a meta- or para-amino substituted phenyl radical and R a C1-7 alkyl radical, and the preparation thereof by reacting a ketone of the formula PhCOR with guanylhydrazine or a salt thereof and, if desired, converting free compounds into their salts or salts into the free compounds. Pharmaceutical compositions having an antiinflammatory action comprise the compounds of the invention in admixture or in conjunction with a pharmaceutically suitable carrier. The compositions may be formulated as tablets, dragees, ointments, creams, solutions, suspensions or emulsions which may also contain other therapeutically active substances.
