927,441. Laminates. EVENS KIRBY (PLASTICS) Ltd. June 23, 1959 [June 23, 1958], No. 20109/58. Class 140. A flexible packing material comprises a sheet of fibrous reinforcing material sandwiched between a layer of synthetic plastics material or regenerated cellulose having a coating of metal on its inner surface, and a layer or coating of an elastomer or polyvinyl chloride. The reinforcing material may be of woven, knitted or felted natural fibres or filaments such'as nylon, glass fibre, polyethylene terephthalate or cotton and is preferably of open weave or net form. The surface sheet may be of polyethylene terephthalate, nylon, polythene, or polyvinyl chloride, or may be regenerated cellulose. The metal preferably comprises aluminium applied by vacuum deposition. The elastomer may be rubber or a synthetic rubber such as a butadiene-methacrylate copolymer and it, or the polyvinyl chloride used alternatively, is preferably applied as a latex, and by spraying. A synthetic rubber adhesive may be applied between the net or other reinforcement and the rubber or p.v.c. coating.
