Abstract
927,362. Top roll carrying arms. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. Nov. 17, 1959 [Nov. 22, 1958], No. 38900/59. Class 120 (2). A top roll carrier and weighting arm is retained, when the machine is stopped and it is unlocked from its operative position, in such a position that thread twist cannot spread into the drafting field. In Fig. 1 the arm 1 is retained in its operative position by a toggle arrangement 4 which when unlocked allows the arm to rise to the position shown by the dash-dot lines. The arm is acted upon, through surfaces 11 at its rear end, by resilient members 8 fixed either side of the arm mounting bracket 2. The bearing surfaces 11 are so designed that the top rollers are forced downwardly with a moment which decreases as the distance between the carrierarm and the bottom rollers is increased. The resilient members may alternatively take the form of spring bars, leaf-springs, coil-springs or spring rods, and an intermediate member may be inserted between the spring and the bearing surface on the arm.
