Abstract
927,193. Filling containers. COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO. May 31, 1961 [June 6, 1960], No. 19695/61. Class 125(2). [Also in Group XXVIII] A pressurised dispensing container is filled by applying a blob of fusible material, e.g. to the base, at 55, Fig. 1, piercing a hole through the base and fusible material at 63 to form a pressurising opening, adding the material to be dispensed at 67 through a filling opening 27 which is then closed by a dispensing valve 21, and pressurising the container at 71 by introducing propellant fluid through the pressurising opening which is then sealed at 73 by fusing the fusible material. The container includes a piston 31, formed of sponge with an imperforate cover 33, which separates the propellant 37 from the material to be dispensed 13, and is supplied at stage 65, Fig. 1. The dispensing valve 21 is provided with a nozzle 14. The pressurising opening is preferably formed in the bottom 19, but can be formed in the side wall, and is preferably pierced from inside the container. The tubes are preferably seamless metallic tubes formed in a tube drawing machine 51 and the process shown in Fig. 1 includes the steps of coating the containers with a protective resin film at 57, painting or printing at 59, and pressure testing at 61.
