927,192. Electrostatic separation. A. LANGEVIN. May 23, 1961 [May 30, 1960; Feb. 18, 1961], No. 18583/61. Class 117. [Also in Group XXIX] In an apparatus for producing a negatively ionized aqueous aerosol (see Group XXIX), an aerosol containing both positively and negatively charged particles is fed through a nozzle 10 into a metallic container 8 where the positively ionized aerosol part is removed and the negatively ionized remainder flows from a pipe 12. The container 8 is connected to a negative potential by a terminal 21 and houses a wire gauze cylinder 13 connected to a positive potential by a terminal 15 so that the positively ionized particles are attracted to the container wall and pass to a receptacle 23, whereas the negatively ionized particles flow through the cylinder 13 to the pipe 12.
