Abstract

Hair dyeing compositions which are applied by forcing out of a container by means of a known aerosol propellant comprise a viscous acid or alkaline aqueous solution of at least one known oxidation dye, at least one lower alcohol miscible with water in an amount up to about 20% by weight of the above constituents and a known propellant which is liquifiable under slight pressure. The dyes are preferably amino-phenols, aromatic diamines or nitro derivatives of either of the above. The specified alcohols are ethanol, iso-propanol, n-propanol, tert-butanol, n-butanol and iso-butanol. The compositions may also include hair treating agents such as cholesterol and lanolin. The compositions may be applied after a hydrogen peroxide rinse in the form of a viscous liquid or foam. The composition of the example contains: ethanol, agar-agar, cholesterol, ammonia, sodium sulphite, nitro-p-phenylene diamine sulphate, sodium p-aminobenzoate, water and "Freon 12" ("Freon" is a Trade Mark).
