Abstract
926,869. Conveying materials by supporting action of air jets. R. E. FUTER. Dec. 30, 1960, No. 44698/60. Class 78 (2). Waste from cardboard cutter and slotter machines is fed along a surface 27 disposed between two frame members 28, 29 of the machine, by the action of air issuing from slits 25 in the surface. The material then passes on to a similar surface 16 having slits arranged to direct the jets in a direction at right angles to the direction of movement on the surface 27. The slits may be formed by depressed portions 23 or by cutting obliquely-disposed slits in the surface with a milling-cutter (Fig. 6, not shown). Compressed-air is supplied by a pump 18 and passes first to a chamber beneath the surface 16 and then through ports 33 (having deflector baffles 30) to a space beneath the surface 27.
