[Also in Group XXXV] The speed of a feed motor M 2 is controlled in accordance with the load on a grinder motor M 1 , the load being measured by means of resistor R 2 which produces a signal for comparison with a reference signal in comparator D, the difference between the signals tending to zero. Between the unit D and regulator F for the motor M 2 is inserted an integrating circuit comprising resistor R 1 and capacitor C, an amplifier A feeding energy back to the capacitor so as to magnify the potential difference across the capacitor due to current in the resistance. Small variations of load current cause gradual variations in the speed of the feed motor until the load is restored to its normal level. If a sudden increase in load causes the output of unit D to overcome the bias voltage of source H, the resistor R 1 is by-passed through rectifier G, so that the control signal passes directly to the regulator F and slows down or stops the motor M 2 immediately.
