926,261. Making electrical connectors; Jointing. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. March 13, 1962, No. 9615/62. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Group XXXVI] A method of manufacturing a composite electrical connector comprising two bodies of different materials, e.g. aluminium and copper, of different coefficients of expansion comprises the steps of forming the bodies with interengaging joint parts and fitting them together whilst at different temperatures so that after a shrinkage joint has been made between the parts, any heating of the composite connector will increase the shrinkage pressure. In an embodiment the connector comprises a copper part 1 and an aluminium part 2 rigidly connected by means of a threaded connection 3 after the copper part has been heated and the aluminium part has been cooled according to the above method. In a modification a plug and socket joint is used between the parts.
